NEC Construction Works and Engineering Ltd, officially hands over the newly constructed Faculty of Computer and Informatics at Mbarara University of Science and Technology’s (MUST) Kihumuro Campus.

On, January 21st, 2025, National Enterprise Corporation (NEC), through its subsidiary NEC Construction Works and Engineering Ltd, officially handed over the newly constructed Faculty of Computer and Informatics at Mbarara University of Science and Technology’s (MUST) Kihumuro Campus. The facility was received by Prof. Pauline Byakika-Kibwika, the Vice Chancellor of MUST.
Eng. Brian Buhanda, General Manager of NEC Construction Works and Engineering Ltd, represented Lt Gen James Mugira, Managing Director of NEC, at the ceremony.
In her remarks, Prof. Byakika-Kibwika expressed gratitude to the Government of Uganda for providing funds to construct the facility. She described the occasion as a significant milestone in MUST’s history, noting that it would revolutionize teaching and learning for future generations. The new facility will enhance the learning environment, making it more conducive for students.
The Vice Chancellor also thanked NEC for their dedication to the project. She appreciated the quality of work and sent regards and gratitude to NEC’s management, pledging to continue working with them.
Eng. Buhanda informed the Vice Chancellor that Lt. Gen. James Mugira would have wished to attend the ceremony but was unable to due to other national strategic engagements. He thanked MUST for giving NEC the opportunity to showcase their potential.
This project marks one of NEC’s pioneering engagements with universities. Currently, NEC is involved in construction projects at various institutions, including Makerere University, Gulu University, Soroti University, Lira University, Busitema University, and Mountain of the Moon University.
Eng. Buhanda concluded by asking the administration to properly maintain the facility, ensuring its longevity and effectiveness.
