AZERBAIJAN DEFENCE INDUSTRY DELEGATION VISITS UGANDA TO STRENGTHEN DEFENCE INDUSTRY   TIES 

A high-level delegation from Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defence Industry, led by Hon. Rustam Hasanli, Counsellor to the Minister of Defence Industry, visited Uganda’s National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) and the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs on 24th February 24, 2025. The delegation met with  Lt Gen James Mugira, Managing Director of NEC, and Hon. Huda Oleru Ambason, Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs (MoDVA).

Other notable attendees included Ms. Edith Butuuro, Undersecretary Finance and Administration, Lt. Gen. Sam Okiding, Deputy Chief of Defence Forces, and Mr. Valerie, CEO of PRO-HELI International Services.

This visit was a reciprocal gesture, following Lt Gen James Mugira’s visit to Azerbaijan in October 2024. The discussions centred around collaboration and cooperation in developing local defence industries, highlighting the growing cooperation between Uganda and Azerbaijan in this sector.

The Azerbaijan delegation’s visit to Uganda, which runs from February 24 to 26, 2025, underscores the importance of strengthening ties between the two nations in the defence industry.
